Next up in the Meet Our Members series is Allyce Haupt. With Allyce, you come for her quilting and the super impressive piecing she does, and you stay for her open nature and delightful personality. We’re so happy she volunteered to serve as our Secretary.

“My Grandmother was a sewist and taught me to sew many things over the years. When I was looking for a new skill to learn as part of a school project, quilting seemed like a natural choice.”

What quilters/artists have inspired you and your work?

I have found the quilting community on Instagram to be a fantastic resource for inspiration and developing my quilting skills.

What brought you to Hampton Roads MQG? What has your experience been like?

I came to the Hampton Roads MQG looking for a community of quilters that I could connect with when I moved back to the area in 2025. It immediately felt like a group that welcomed everyone and offered the community, support, and friendship I was looking for in a guild.

What is one goal you have for sewing/quilting?

Currently my quilting goals revolve around finishing a multitude of WIPs and really settling into my own personal style of quilting. As someone who enjoys gifting quilts, I have found it difficult to really develop my own style since I often focus on what the quilt recipient will enjoy.

Where can people find you and your work? Website? Socials?
