Welcome to Hampton Roads Modern Quilt Guild!

Our Mission

The Modern Quilt Guild, an international organization dedicated to modern quilting and community, seeks to foster a vibrant and inclusive organization built on encouragement and mutual respect where all feel welcome. Our guild aims to do the very same.

Hampton Roads Modern Quilt Guild’s mission is to support and develop the art of modern quilting through cooperation, education, and community. Our guild fulfills that mission by fostering a growing and inclusive environment to explore the art and craft of modern quilting. Whether you’re a decades-long quilter, new to quilting, or even quilt-curious, Hampton Roads MQG is here to welcome, encourage, and support you and your work.

About Us

Speaking of growing: Hampton Roads Modern Quilt Guild has just celebrated its first birthday! In our first year, we taught the community to sew EPP blocks with us at Pride at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA, a project that resulted (many months later) in our “Broadway Pride” community quilt.

Our guild also had our first exhibition at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in February 2026 titled “All Y’all: A Quilting Collective,” a collection of our guild members’ talents and passions in quilting.

We are always looking for new quilty friends, fresh energy, and ideas to help our guild continue to grow. If you’ve been craving a welcoming community of people to show your quilts to, ask questions of, or nerd out about fabric with, you’ve come to the right place.

Upcoming Meetings

Meetings are typically held the first Saturday of each month from 10-1 at Fabric Hut in Norfolk. You can keep up with us on Instagram or email us at [email protected] for the most current information. Please check there before each meeting to confirm location.

Our meetings start with a brief business portion, a show and tell, and then we get into working on our sewing projects.
